Sheep Meadow
The first warm weekend of the year brings out a lot of people for a sunbath in Central Park. In the mid 19th century, the Sheep Meadow was used for military drills. A flock of pedigree Southdown sheep inhabited the Meadow from 1864 until 1934, when the sheep were transferred to Prospect Park in Brooklyn. (New York, 2007)
