Lonesome readers

I continue the Paris parks series with these three new pictures from the “parc de l’Ile Saint-Germain” (same as last week). Unusually empty for a Saturday afternoon (it’s already late autumn), it was easy to spot these lonely figures…

New York rising II

Since the new camera arrived, I have found more motivation to virtually take it anywhere with me. See the men at work at a construction site Midtown and a silhouette under the tree inside Time Warner Center.

Elevators & reflections

The first picture shows the elevator shaft in the Marriott Marquis hotel in Times Square. It takes less than 30 seconds for the 49 floors (see also here a picture while in the elevators taken last year).

Ultra wide

A colleague lent me the Canon 10-22 EF-S for a week; I was not at all impressed by picture quality and sharpness, but this is really wide. Here is a Midtown street crossing under rain:

Does it hurt?

Every business has its own marketing strategy. I don’t know how effective is this dentist’s large open window facing the street while he is performing an intervention on a patient…

Gotham city

This is the last post in 2007:

  • reflections of midtown skyline (Verizon Tower on the left, Empire State on the right) on the HBO building
  • a black & white view of newly built Bank of America Tower (left), HBO building (middle) and Grace Building (right)

The Apple Store

Most of the Apple store on 5th Avenue is submerged, occupying a sunken plaza in front of the General Motors Building. The only part above ground is a 32-foot glass cube. The picture shows through the glass stairs people coming in and out.

Cuauhtémoc

Cuauhtémoc is a ship designed to train Mexican Navy officers and cadets. These pictures were taken at South Street Seaport in Manhattan. The second one shows the ship’s kitchen activity while white-clothed officers and cadets were running tourist visits on the upper level deck.
