Gran Canaria

Why does the word canary come from the Latin root canis (dog)? Because of their wild dog population, the Canary Islands were named “dog islands” in Latin and the bird was named after the islands a lot later. Maybe this is why I was in a very “colorful mood” when post-processing the pictures. The album is here.

La Villette

The glass and steel dome called La Géode was designed by Adrien Fainsilber and it was opened in 1986.

The “folie du rond-point” is one of the several red-painted steel constructions disposed in a strict 120-meter point-grid. The follies were designed by Bernard Tschumi.

The great gallery of evolution has been redesigned in early 90s by architects Paul Chemetov and Borja Huidobro. They have also designed the Ministry of Economy and Finance building in Paris.
