Autumn desolation
Fall photographs usually look pretty, with flashy colors and brilliant blue skies. What I want to show in these two pictures is the real autumn evil intentions: all plants temporarily die, days become colder, nights become longer…

On the technical side, these three pictures are HDR (High Dynamic Range) – each one is a combination of several shots taken with different exposures.

The views from a small plane flying at low altitude are usually a lot better than high altitude views. Still, it is very difficult to get good pictures because of the haze and the reflections in the window. I have always liked Yann Arthus Bertrand‘s pictures but only now I realize how hard is to get composition, light, image quality and a good subject together.

Earlier this year we went to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where one of the largest Amish settlements is found. Unfortunately it was too cold for a buggy ride but we did it now. I was afraid I would not be able to take pictures of Amish people as they do not like being photographed because it cultivates individualism, but our buggy driver Ben didn’t have an issue with that. In addition to the ride itself, I really appreciated talking to him – it is more personal than a New York Times or wikipedia article.
